Emma Gracia Lor
Emma graduated in Chemistry from the University Jaume I of Castellón (Spain), in 2005. In 2008 she took her Master’s degree in Applied Chromatographic Techniques. After that she started working on a PhD project entitled “Potential of liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry for the detection, quantification and confirmation of pharmaceuticals in waters” in the Research Institute for Pesticides and Water (University Jaume I), and obtained her doctorate in June 2013. Meanwhile, shee collaborated as a professor for three academic years (2009-2012) in the Physical and Analytical Chemistry Department, University Jaume I.
Her main research activity has been focused on the development of analytical methodologies for the determination of pharmaceuticals and their metabolites by liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry in different types of waters. She has also been involved in many projects in order to determine other pollutants in waters and vegetables, especially pesticides.
In October 2013 she joined the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research (Milan, Italy) to work as a postdoctoral researcher.
Development and standardization of novel sewage epidemiology approaches
The main purpose of this project is to refine and standardize the sewage epidemiology approach for novel application development. First of all, we will search for novel potential biomarkers of human urinary excretion to refine the method of calculation used to estimate population habits. Later, the most appropriate estimate of the real population size served by a plant will be standardized using different approaches and the refined approach will be tested to implement novel applications.
